Phone homepage

The phone program is an internet phone for linux . With linux, a full duplex sound board, speakers and a microphone, and a 24000 bits-per-second connection to the internet or better, you can talk with other people with the same setup over the internet.

The phone server maintains a database of who is online and what everyone's ip address and port numbers are. The phone client deals with the audio and querying the server, and talking with other clients. The phone client is released open source under the terms of the GPL. See The Free Software Foundation for information on the GPL.

Phone uses your email address for identification. The server will assign you a password and email it to your email address. You then take that password and create the $HOME/.phonerc file. The password is required for security, so other people can't pretend to be you and cause trouble. Please keep your password secret. To get a password assigned, go to this page .
